Independent perfume house — est. 2015

What lingers after you leave the room.

Sillage is a four-person perfume house. Every fragrance is built as a pyramid — top notes that greet, heart notes that settle, base notes that stay on skin and fabric long after the top has faded.

The Fragrance Wheel

Five families, one wheel.

Every fragrance in the collection sits in one of these families. Choose a wedge to browse it.

FORMULA NO. 007

What stays after the top note fades.

The top note is what sells a fragrance across a counter in four seconds. It is also the part that means the least — bergamot and citrus burn off within the hour on most skin, and what's left underneath is the actual fragrance you'll wear for the rest of the day.

We spend more formulation time on base notes than on anything else in the pyramid, because that's the part nobody smells in the first four seconds and everybody remembers by the end of the evening.

FORMULA NO. 003

What the noses say.

Founding Perfumer
A fragrance that's balanced on the strip and boring on skin has failed. We only test on skin now, strips are for the trade show.
— C. Delacroix-Wen
Second Nose
Oud is the ingredient everyone thinks they understand and almost nobody has smelled unblended. It is not subtle. Our job is mostly restraint.
